PROTECT, PRESERVE, MENTAIN, SUSTAIN OUR ENVIRONMENT

Green Cameroon is a non-governmental Organization with environmental preservation and conservation being its main domain of interest. The organization is running under authorization No 352/G.37/D.14/I/VOL10/BAPP.It has a wide range of membership drawn from various works of life with a singular interest of protecting and preserving the environment which is of prime importance to human existence. Our aims And Objectives

Above is a pic of one of our volunteers in a working serssion with one of our school clubs. The serssion had to do with brainstorming to get sensitisation slogans that can be displayed in public places to raise awareness on pressing environmental issues some of the slogans they came out with can be found in our picture gallery.

In the domain of sensitization, we are very active in the fight against global warming and climate change. We are currently partnering with some local and foreign NGOs to unite our effort and make the campaign effective. We regularly organize seminars and public talks on global warming and climate change. We organized a match against global warming in December 2007 and the pics can be found in our photo gallery.

The objectives of Green Cameroon are as follows:
To encourage human activities which aim at preserving, maintaining and improving on biodiversity.
Encourage sustainable resource management practices that allow us to keep resources available for us indefinitely.
Encourage activities that result in identifying new resources and technologies which may improve on our current resources in ways that will creat positive impact on the overall quality of life and the environment.

In a society where environmental education is not very popular and conservation and proection is not very encouraged, we think it is imperical to inculcate in this young children the love and awareness for nature so that when they who are the leaders of tomorrow will be in control, more attention will be given to environmental issues than it is today.

WE are also involved in the protection of water catchment areas and So far we have been able to identify most of the water catchment areas in our locality and we have put in place projects to make sure that they are not tampered with in any way. Some of these measures involve sensitising and educating the local communities.

Our Activities

Our Environmental club carrying out a sensitasation match against climate change. We organise activities of this nature every december during the UN climate talks.

With the authorization of the ministry of national education, we are creating, operating and running environment clubs in secondary and high schools in and out of the province. We think this clubs are important because Cameroon does not have environmental education in its secondary and high school programs. We therefore think that it is important that our youths should be introduced to environmental education and be thought to love and care for nature. In these clubs, students are encouraged to carry out small projects like the planting of flower gardens, trees, fruit orchards, general cleaning and waste disposal campaigns.

Also in the clubs, students are thought and encouraged to write environmental poems and songs that they can present on occasions and ceremonies. You should visit our picture gallery to see some of our club pictures.Green Cameroon also engages in urban sanitation and waste disposal projects. We do tree planting and try to work with the authorities that be to ensure the conservation of our natural resources.

We also organize competitions for the various school clubs after short intervals to keep them busy and active in the field. These competitions are intended to reward those who we think are making progress in deepening their knowledge on the environment.

How You Can Be Of Help To Us

We will gladly accept help of any kind. First of all, we are in need of volunteers for our variouse projects, advice on how to make our school club activities more interesting to the students involved and expertise of any sort. We also accept gifts and donations both in cash and kind. apart from cash and your expertise here are some items you can donate to us. Tree seedlings, farming equipments, books on environmental science and publicity gadjets like flyers, t-shirts,cpas, buttons, stickers, computers and other stationary for our day to day running.
